Final Outcomes

Alice lying down in the position of a crucifix in some leaves in the university park. This was one of my experimentation's but because the leaves are such a beautiful colour and I think this image is really strong I want to use this in my final piece. I edited this photo on photoshop by cropping it and flipping the image upside down so that the person looking at the image will question which way up the photo was taken. I didn't edit it any more on photoshop because I wanted to keep its natural beauty and not distort it like society distorts the idea of how a persons life should be.

Alice lying down in the leaves in the university park. I edited this photo on photoshop by cropping it and then adding a black and white layer to it. The fact that this photo is in black and white links to my photographer Robert Frank in the sense that all his photos are in black and white. Also Robert Frank took photos of people that he considered to be outcasts in society which I have also used as a stimulus for my work as she is a Christian which society in this day and age would look upon as being something that is out of the ordinary and would be an outcast. Although she is just lying there she shows that she is a believer and a follower of Jesus in the way that she is lying in the position of a crucifix just like Jesus died on a cross. The fact that she is in the same position for all of the photos I have of her fits in exactly with the bible verse I have chosen as a stimulus.

I have edited this photo on photoshop by cropping it, adding a black and white layer and then added another layer where I erased the black and white layer from her body. I think that this is a strong image as Alice really stands out.

Alice lying down in the position of a crucifix in the sixth form common room. I have cropped and flipped this photo upside down but I haven't edited the photo in any other way as I want to capture natural unedited beauty.

Alice lying down by the lockers in the common room. This photo I have flipped upside down and then cropped on photoshop. I didn't edit this photo any further on photoshop as I wished to keep it's natural beauty.

Alice Lying down in the shape of a crucifix in the common room by the lockers, I have edited this photo into black and white on photoshop and I have cropped this photo.

Alice lying down in the position of a crucifix in the common room by the lockers. I then got the people who were in the common room at the time to come and stand around her so I could capture their feet in the photo to represent how Alice is the 'odd one out' in society because she is doing something different to everyone else. I only flipped and cropped this photo but I didn't edit it any further.

Alice lying down in the common room by the lockers with people walking around her. For this photo I left the shutter open for 3 seconds and got Alice to be still and the people in the common room to walk around her so that their feet would be blurred and she would be in focus. I didn't do much editing of this photo on photoshop other than cropping so that the natural beauty of the photo isn't distorted like society distorts images. I feel that this photo is a powerful image as it shows how God sees her from heaven and that she truly is doing what Exodus 14:4 says. Although the world has its own trends and orders that it follows she is not conforming to that because that is not what she believes, she is following the LORD which to some people would make her an outcast just like Robert Frank's photography of outcasts. I did two of these photos and I wish to use both in my final outcome.

Alice lying down in a crucifix position in the common room by the lockers with people walking around her. I have edited this photo into black and white on photoshop to show how some people just see the world in black and white and they do not have any ideas about the beauty that can be found in colour and that there is so much more to the world than this that they see.

Alice lying down in the common room near the lockers with people walking round her. I took this photo by keeping the shutter open for 3 seconds and getting the people in the common room at the time to walk around her, I made sure Alice stayed still. I edited this photo on photoshop and put it into black and white then added a layer where I erased the black and white from her body making her stand out. I like this image as this shows that although the world is going on around her, she has her heart set on God and she is still for him. The fact that she is in colour and the background is in black and white represents how her faith stands out and shines out to the people she meets in this world that would view her as being an outcast.

This is the second photo I took.

Alice lying down in a crucifix position on concrete outside the contemporary arts. This photo I only cropped on photoshop leaving its natural beauty unedited and in no way distorted as this is how God in heaven would see Alice. There is nothing fake about her here she is just how she is, unedited. Society distorts the idea of perfection of  how people should look and act, but Alice has made no changes to the way she looks and she is still for the LORD and he will fight for her and he sees her how she is and he sees perfection even though the world would see imperfection. She is seen as an outcast to society because she hasn't conformed to the ways of the world but to the ways of the LORD.

Alice lying down in a crucifix position on concrete slabs outside the contemporary arts. This photo I have edited on photoshop and I have put into black and white to show how some people just see the world in black and white and they do not have any ideas about the beauty that can be found in colour and that there is so much more to the world than this that they see.

Alice lying in a crucifix position on concrete outside the contemporary arts. This photo I have edited on photoshop into black and white and I have then used a layer in which I erased the black and white from her body, so that she is in colour and everywhere around her is in black and white. The fact that she is in colour and the background is in black and white represents how her faith stands out and shines out to the people she meets in this world that would view her as being an outcast. This photo shows that she is different to the world around her and that the concrete slabs all fit together just like society runs, it is bland and boring and there is nothing interesting to it, but Alice lying on top of it shows that she doesn't fit into this concrete society and that she is different but that different isn't a bad thing.
This is how I would ideally like to present my final photos, I have duplicated some of the photos in this to make the final outcome more contrasting. I think I may also write the bible verse around the edge of the photo as a border. I think I will also caption the photo with the words: 'the Lord will fight for you, you need only to be strong.'
